The Most Important Diet Characteristic for Long Term Weight Loss

Most people want some hidden secret when it comes to weight loss. And… truthfully, there are about a handful of “tricks” that most people don’t know about when it comes to losing weight effortlessly. But you need a base to work off of when it comes to losing weight.

This article will give you that base. I’ll give you some plain advice that’s easy to follow so you can lose weight and keep it off without feeling like you are starving or being punished.

Lets get to it.

If you want a simple way to lose weight while still eating your favorite foods, all you need to do is eat a lot of fiber each day. What is a lot? 40+ grams a day.

Before I get to some good choices for high fiber foods, I’d like to explain why they are good for weight loss.

First, high fiber foods fill you up longer with less calories. These foods have more volume and carry less of a calorie load. High fiber foods generally require you to chew longer, thus giving your body extra time to register that you’re not hungry anymore. This helps control overeating. The fiber in these foods help flush out most everything that is congesting and clogging your intestinal tract. That leads to a more efficient digestive system.

Now, the best high fiber foods are beans. And the best beans to use are black beans. 1 15-ounce can of black beans contains 25 grams of fiber. That’s about twice as much fiber as the average American gets. So if you were to eat 1/2 of a can of black beans twice a day, you’re getting 25 grams of fiber. Since black beans are easy to work with when it comes to meals, this isn’t a big deal.

If black beans don’t naturally appeal to you, try adding 1 tablespoon of sour cream mixed into them. Or some sweet relish. And or 1 tablespoon of some barbeque sauce. Yes, I know that’s not totally healthy for you, but you’re allowed to “cheat” your way into eating healthier foods. You’ll still come out way ahead even if you add those into the black beans. So don’t worry too much about a little cheating.

A few more examples of high fiber foods include: blackeye peas, raspberries, pure bran, rolled oats oatmeal, prunes, avocados, raisins, and just about every green vegetable. So if you can mix and match these (perhaps in a salad) or add them to your normal meals, you’re well on your way to losing weight and becoming healthier.

Just remember, eat at least 40 grams of fiber each day and you’re almost sure to lose weight or maintain your weight loss.

How long does it take for green bean seeds to emerge?

I planted seeds 12 days ago and only 3 have emerged. Will the rest come as well or should I dig them up and start over?

Generally, anywhere from 7 to 14 days, but I have had some come up in the past as early as 3 days and as late as 20. It all depends on your soil conditions and how much water/sunlight they have received.

If the soil is not warm enough it can slow down the germination process. If it has been too dry, that can slow it down too. Too wet conditions can cause the seeds to rot in the ground.

You can gently brush the soil away from the top of the seed to see if it has germinated yet or if it has rotted. If they have rotted, don’t bother digging them up, just plant again. Think of them as a compost boost to the seeds you will replant.

Depending on where you live, you may need to build a cold frame for next year. That way, you can plant earlier in the season and be picking beans earlier and longer. If you plant too late in the season, it will be too hot for the booms to set before it gets to the hot (95+) part of summer and they will not produce well.

I have beans about an inch long on mine already and expect to start picking after the holiday weekend. If I keep them watered and picked, I should have beans all summer.
